Dr. Li-Mei Chen, an Assistant Professor of Social Work at George Mason University, is a globally recognized scholar specializing in gerontology, dementia care, civic engagement, and social welfare policy. With a research career spanning over two decades across Japan, the United States, and East Asia, Dr. Chen has authored over 60 scholarly documents, including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and policy reports. Her work explores productive aging, older volunteers’ engagement, and innovative care models integrating digital technology and community-based interventions. She has served as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on numerous funded projects supported by organizations such as the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, the John A.
